Parent COVID Notification

Please read the following letter from Brandee Beikman, RN, BSN, regarding positive COVID cases of three of our students:  one from Hornet Park, one from Central Elementary, and one from Beech Grove Middle School.  As always, please stay vigilant, safe, and healthy, Hornets!

May 11, 2021

 Dear Hornets,

I want to thank the individual who notified us of their positive COVID test, and for our families and staff who have done a great job of practicing good behaviors such as wearing a mask, frequent hand washing, social distancing, and staying home when they are feeling ill.     Please continue to alert us to any positive COVID tests in your household, even during virtual/eLearning, and when school is in session in our school buildings, and to continue to keep your student home from school when she/he is feeling ill.

We were notified of a positive COVID-19 diagnosis today of three of our students:  one at Hornet Park Elementary, one at Central Elementary, and one from Beech Grove Middle School;  and, as a result, have identified first contacts and advised those contacts to quarantine.   We ask that all staff and students maintain a heightened awareness to remain vigilant in your efforts to combat COVID-19 by continuing to socially distance, wearing a mask, washing your hands frequently, and monitoring your health symptoms.  In accordance with Marion County Public Health Department guidelines, staff members and families of students who were a first contact with the affected individuals were personally notified and instructed to quarantine.  If you have not been personally notified, your child is NOT a first contact in this situation.

Please know that we want to be as transparent as possible, while respecting and stringently following required HIPAA (The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) regulations.

We ask for your understanding.  We also ask that these topics not be discussed on Facebook, as many times misinformation is shared, which only adds to the stress and uncertainty of our families.

In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to me with your questions or concerns.  I can be reached at 317-786-1447 or via email at:  bbeikman@bgcs.k12.in.us.

 Sincerely,

 Brandee Beikman, RN, BSN
