Back to School Information

Good afternoon, Hornets!  Just a remindervirtual/eLearning continues beginning tomorrow, Monday, January 4-Friday, January 8, unless instructed otherwise by your child's principal.  Please refer to the December 31 issue of the Hornet Blast, which includes important information from our principals regarding the return to school:

On Monday, January 11, schools will reopen for at school learners.  Students who were at school learners before the shutdown will return to their buildings.  Students who were successfully participating and progressing in at home learning, may choose to continue in at home learning, UNLESS YOU HAVE HEARD FROM YOUR CHILD'S PRINCIPAL with a requirement for your child to participate in at school learning.

Following is recent information communicated by Beech Grove High School, Beech Grove Middle School, and South Grove Intermediate, which was sent on Friday by the middle school; and today by the high school and South Grove.

From Mr. Morgan, Principal, Beech Grove Middle School:

Good afternoon,

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and was able to spend time with their loved ones.  2020 has certainly been a difficult year and has had a tremendous impact on us all.  It has caused frustration and hardship, no doubt, but it has also forced us to look at things differently.  I am confident that our teachers are better educators due to their hard work and effort they have put in over the past 9 months.  I want to thank each of you for your help during this time as well.  I am a parent of a nine-year-old and a six-year-old and know the stress that our current situation can bring home.  Know that we are all in this together, and together we will overcome.

This year, our mantra is Pound The Stone, which is certainly fitting.  The days can be monotonous, challenging, and stressful, but we will be better through our hard work, and a never give up mentality.  I believe we can learn a lot from the stone cutters credo, which goes as follows; "When nothing seems to help, I go and look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock, perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it.  Yet at the hundred and first blow, it will split in two, and I know it was not that blow that did it, but all that had gone before.

Beech Grove Middle School is committed to providing your child with the highest quality education as well as providing an environment that is safe.  We appreciate your continued partnership and look forward to a successful 2021 school year.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

From Dr. Walters, Principal, Beech Grove High School:

Afternoon, all!

We are excited to welcome students back! Please click the following link to view a video update for this first week of school: BGHS Update: 1/3/2021.

Students, as a reminder, mandatory gMeets will occur in the first 20 minutes of every class on Monday, Wednesday and Friday this week (1/4-8/21).

  • The nickname for the gMeet will be: teacher email name-blocknumber (for example: ewalters-block1)
  • Student attendance will be taken by the grade book…2 points are awarded for every gMeet attended.

Here is the bell schedule: BGHS 2020-21 S2 Schedule…again, mandatory gMeets occur during the first 20 minutes of every class.

I know that most are looking forward to students returning on the hybrid schedule! We hope to do so on Monday, January 11, 2021. We will finalize assigned groups (Mon/Thur and Tue/Fri) early this week and communicate those as soon as they’re available.

From Mrs. Gina Fleming, Principal, South Grove Intermediate:
